London has the highest density of small businesses anywhere in the UK, a little over fourteen hundred SMEs for every ten thousand adults, and the mix has tilted decisively toward services. Professional, scientific and technical activities is one of the largest SME categories here by business count, alongside IT and communications firms that are more concentrated in London than anywhere else in the country. - How does the time difference between London and Sydney work in practice?
- Sydney is eleven hours ahead of London through the British winter, when the two countries have shifted their clocks in opposite directions, and nine hours ahead in the summer. The workable overlap is your morning: a nine o'clock session in London is early evening in Sydney, which is a reasonable hour rather than a heroic one. Past your lunchtime the window closes quickly, and by mid-afternoon in London it is the middle of the night in Sydney. So live work is booked into your morning and everything else moves in writing, which for most London owners turns out to be the calmer half of the arrangement.
- We are a professional services firm rather than a tech company. Does this apply to us?
- It is the closest fit in London. An implementation leaves a documented system holding your pricing, your process and your job history, arranged so the tools can actually use it, in files your own staff can open and edit. The second one takes longer, asks more of your people, and survives the next tool everybody switches to. If what you want is the first, London has publicly funded programmes running it at no cost, and you should use those instead.
