Chicago may be the closest fit of any American city on this list, because Chicagoland is the second-largest manufacturing base in the country and manufacturing is exactly where this work lands. Manufacturing accounts for the largest share of tracked new business investment in the region, ahead of professional, scientific, and technical services and then transportation and warehousing, with regional strength in food processing, plastics and chemicals, and metals, machinery, and equipment. Add the logistics operators feeding third-party warehousing and e-commerce, and you have a metro full of businesses that live on quotes, specifications, scheduling, and paperwork.

Chicago owners are further along in asking the right questions than most. The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce runs hands-on AI workshops for small business owners as standing programming, 1871 hosts automation sessions, and the Illinois SBDC offers free AI-tools consulting. What none of those can do is build the thing for your business. That is the part Azgard does: one engineer in Sydney who puts your pricing, your past jobs, and your standard processes into a system your estimators and schedulers use daily, then hands it over documented so nobody has to call to change it.

common questions

asked from chicago.

How does the time difference work from Central time?
Sydney sits fifteen to seventeen hours ahead of Chicago depending on daylight saving on both sides. Mid-afternoon here is early the next morning there, so sessions run from around three o'clock Central. That is the end of your day, which for most owners is also the quietest part of it.
We run a small manufacturing shop. Where does AI actually help?
Estimating and job knowledge, before anything else. Quoting by digging through past jobs, spec sheets, and supplier pricing is the most common time sink in a shop, and it is the one a properly built system fixes rather than papers over. After that: work instructions, purchase order handling, and the customer updates nobody has time to write.
Do you work with businesses out in the suburbs, or only in the city?
Chicagoland is one market as far as this work is concerned. A logistics operator in the western suburbs and a firm in the Loop get identical delivery, because the engagement runs on video and inside your own systems. Nothing about the result improves by being closer to downtown.
How do I know whether an AI consultant understands my industry?
You mostly cannot know in advance, and it matters less than it sounds. What matters is whether they will sit with your real quotes, your real job files, and your real process before proposing anything. Azgard's first customer is a signage manufacturer, so the shape of a shop is familiar, but the method is the same either way: read the actual work first, build second, hand it over documented.
What is the time commitment on our side?
Two hours for the Fundamentals session, then a Kickstart that runs as a handful of working sessions with the people who know the process, plus their time answering questions between them. It is deliberately done-with-you rather than done-for-you, because a system built without your estimators in the room is a system your estimators will ignore.
